Scott Lewis

Scott Lewis is the head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu professor at Nova Uniao Jiu-Jitsu Mississauga. Scott is a Second Degree Black Belt under the instruction of BJJ champion and former WEC  &  IFL Featherweight Champion, Wagnney Fabiano.  Professor Scott Lewis has trained with some of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the World; including Leo Santos, Vitor “Shaolin” Riberio, UFC Fighter Mark Bocek, Renato “Charuto” Verissimo, André “Dedé” Pederneiras, Wendell Alexander, and BJJ champion Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles. In addition to training with a great number of BJJ professionals, Scott has experienced BJJ at a competitive level in North America.

Daniel Tsatsos

blackbeltDaniel Tsatsos has been training martial arts with a focus on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) for over 10 years and is a Black Belt under Wagnney Fabiano.  Daniel has trained extensively under Waggney Fabiano who gave Daniel his Blue and Purple belt, as well as Scott Lewis, Wendell Alexander, Andre “dede” Pedenarias, Sam Zakula, Robson Moura and Leo Santos. In addition to these amazing instructors, Daniel has trained with Jose Aldo, Vitor “Shaolin” Riberio, Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, Renzo Gracie, Robin Gracie, Andre Morola, Pedro Rizzo, Danilo Cherman, Mark Bocek and many many more great instructors. Daniel credits his success in competition not only to world class instructors, but also to his amazing training partners and dedication to the sport.

In addition to training, Daniel has become a well-known BJJ instructor in Toronto. He has been actively teaching BJJ for over 5 years and has taught students of all ages and experience levels. Daniel is constantly upgrading his skills to be able to stay up to date with the latest techniques, but is also well known for stressing the fundamentals of the art.  Daniel prides himself in his student’s achievements and is always happy to help his students achieve their goals on and off the mats.

Daniel is also a certified International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation referee.

Anderson Andrade

andersonAnderson is a Nova Uniao Black belt under  Victor Hugo Trigueiro &  Bruno Novaes Veloso; both of whom are Black belts under Nova Uniao Co- Founder  Wendell Alexander.

Anderson Andrade is a  4-year champion of the Campeonato Pernambucano de Jiu Jitsu. Each year with 3 competitions;  Anderson has won every competition in his weight class, and in open weight.


  • Champion of the Campeonato Potiguar de Jiu Jitsu , weight and open weight.
  • Silver medal in Panamerican in Brazil in the weight and open weight.
  • Champion of the Campeonato paraibano de jiu jitsu, weight and open weight.
  • 4 times champion of the Campeonato absolute fight & surf.
  • 3 times champion of the state grappling competition.

As good as Andersen is at competing, he is just as good at teaching the Art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Chris Pesavento

timandchrisChris Pesavento is a Nova Uniao Brown belt member under Professor Scott Lewis. Chris has been training in BJJ for several years, and has both competed and placed in a number of tournaments. A father of two young girls, Chris understands the importance of ensuring that all classes are fun, fresh, and challenging. As an instructor, Chris teaches a solid understanding of BJJ basics, and incorporates drills and games into class sessions.


Jason Palmer

Jason is a first degree Judo Black Belt, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Purple Belt under Professor Scott Lewis.  Jason has trained and competed in Judo for 10 years and in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 4 years.  Jason has enjoyed the discipline and focus that both martial arts have taught him and looks to instill the same discipline and focus in his students. Jason is currently instructing kid’s classes at Nova Uniao Mississauga.

About UsNova Uniao Jiu Jitsu Mississauga was founded in March, 2012 and is run by Black Belt, Professor Scott Lewis, and Brown Belt, Daniel Tsatsos. Both Scott and Daniel have been teammates under the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu powerhouse team, Nova Uniao. Most notably, the members of this team are Jose Aldo, who is the current UFC 145lbs Champion, Renan Pegado “Barao,” current UFC 135lbs Champion, BJ Penn, former UFC Champion and World BJJ gold medal winner, BJJ champion Leo Santos, IFL Champion and WEC fighter Wagnney Fabiano, and Vitor Shaolin Ribeiro.
